I inherited a pair of kef caprice II. My set is now almost complete. I still need an amplifier of reasonable qualitiy. My budget is limited: about EUR 400,- . Can anyone give me some advice?

You want a 50 Watt (or greater, up to 100 Watts) rms into 8 Ohm amplifier, with a good damping factor to ensure a tight bass response.

No bottles (valves) unless you can get a Beard.

So for £280 you could get a classic Rotel, Pioneer, maybe a Quad 33/303, Meridian 101 with 105 monoblocks or a big Cyrus.

I don't know about the modern stuff but if the "comic" review says that the amplifier is bass light or has a bright treble, avoid it!

Good hunting Smile .
