Nightingale audio transmision line speakers.

NM1, Kef B139 bass, Peerless mid, Isophon tweeter.
NM3, Kef B139 bass, seas 11f-GX mid, Siar TWM tweeter.

I am sure there is an early Nightingale NM.5 which used to use a B200 and a NM2 with a B139 but I am unsure of the mid and treble ?

LNB audio labyrinth speakers.

Para Lab 20 series II.
Kef B200/sp1022 bass, Kef t27/sp1032 treble.

Did the exposure 1 and 2 TL speakers use Kef drivers ?
And the Clark A1-31H, and A1-35/2 mention melinex treble units with the 35/2 having what sounds like a B139 variant ?

Cambridge Audio also had, an L30F, TL200 and TL100.

And Richard Allan had , RA82L and RA82LP, which I think used Kef units ?

LNB's for the most part are not transmission lines, but labyrinths, as the volume behind the bass unit is much smaller than the equivalent volume of the driver.

As there is a pair on ePay at the moment, NipPro did commercial versions of the Pro9tl and the original Bailey designs.

A Shaindlin design apparently used lots of B110's a'la the Meridian M10/M100, but I've no idea about the loading.

Quite correct as always Colin! The term 'Transmission Line' does not compute if one is strict about the principle of operation.

Whilst on the subject of labyrinths...

SMC AL12, a two unit speaker possibly using B200 and?

The Richard Allan 828LP used (allegedly):
Two HB8B Bass/Mid units each 200mm Bextrene and 38mm extra long voice coils.
Treble was by a DT20 dome unit.

Consisting of a B200 SP1063, T27 6535 and T15 6236 in a reflex design - looked like a transmission line to me Shocked

.

Now the SP1063 is five years younger than the other units, so wouldn't be used in such a combination and the T15 was mounted in a hole cut out for a ITT/STC/Coles 4001.

Yes I have on several occasions emailed sellers of "KEF" tweeters like for example the dreadful Leak/Wharfedale pink plastic tweeter being sold as KEF! All but one withdrew their sales or changed it... Sadly there must be one born every minute otherwise the sales would not still be happening...

you guys seem to know your stuff,so can you help me with my IMFtls50mk2's.My b200s are the sp1039 version- would the imfs have used different components for a different sp version of the b200,or would they carry on with the same?I ask because I have heard rumours of the sp1063 being used-any info or statistics please anyone or any experiences with with the tls 50?

Sounds like IMF were operating in their normal "el-cheepo" mode if they were putting SP1039's in a transmission line.

Only the SP1014 and SP1022 (Cadenza) are really suitable for TL's.

The SP1063 has "catch all" Small Thiel parameters, hence it's use.

Were they bought second hand? Are the units original as fitted?

A friend bought a pair of 104aBs from Bristol second hand a few years ago. These had obviously been replaced with the cheapo B200s (small magnets as well).
And there were even a couple of bulging capacitors on the C/O PCB. Must have been thrashed good 'n proper sometime...

yes they were second hand so the chances of them being messed about with and thrashed good and proper in a gloucester stylee are high,however, according to my notes the 1039s have the heaviest magnet clocking in at 3kgs compared to 2.7kgs on other models,and they have a high power handling 25v rms compared to the sp1022s 15v rms.please explain more about small thiel parameters and suitability for transmission lines,I am not a physics teacher but have faint scraps of technical awareness and comprehension,and a light on my truth detector is flashing away on my desk,or please refer me to somewhere where I can imbibe of this wisdom for I am intrigued.
