B110 5inch the SP1003 28 hz res. 6mm P-P was the classic as used in the LS35a later the SP1057 for the REF 105 speaker arrived.
The SP1057 is better damped with the surround and should sound better in practice the SP1003 still sounds good.
Later yet another SP version arrived for the current LS35a as commissioned for the BBC.

hello!
can you tell about differences between a B110 1057 sold oem as B110-2 and 1228 used in the 11 ohms LS3/5a ?
they look the same...but ....

I responded to this on Sunday, so here's an "almost" copy Shocked .

"Here are some number for you Very Happy .

**** B110A SP1003 * B110C SP1228 * B110B SP1057
Rdc ******* 7.1 ******* 5.2 ********* 7.1
Sd ******** 85 ******** 79 ********* 87
Md ******** 11 ******** 10.5 ******* 9.3
Bl ******** 7.8 ********* 6 ********** 6.4
Qt ******** 0.27 ******* 0.31 ******* 0.33
fo ******** 35.04 ******* 39.01 ****** 37
Vas ******* 19.03 ****** 13.89 ****** 23.6

The Bextrene (a rubberised Polystyrene) coned B110A and B110B each have two types of rubber surround.
The later shallower design allows the unit to "bottom" (the mechanical stop is clearly heard), at lower levels when being used as a bass-mid speaker.

There is another varient of the Polypropylene (plus other polymers), coned B110C the SP1209, which was specifically designed as a midrange unit for the Ref 107.

The SP1057 was never used in LS3/5a's and neither should it, or the SP1209 be used in clones Cool .
