This is the system I have been using for many years, and am using currently with different bass units.
The drive units are KEF B110 (1003), Celestion HF 1300, and HF 2000 and the crossovers are based in those used in the IMF TL80.
The B110 "enclosures" are clay flower pots, about 5 liter volume.
I have mated them with a variety of bass combinations, from very large marble corner enclosures to little bass modules (B110) in clay pots too, as satellites. See photos with LS3/5a, please CLICK ON THUMBNAILS.
  
The sound is open, uncoloured and I have not found anything better. |

I have had to find the meaning of "POTTY" in the dictionary:
pot·ty 1 Pronunciation (pt)
adj. pot·ti·er, pot·ti·est Chiefly British
1. Of little importance; trivial.
2. Slightly intoxicated.
3. Somewhat silly or crazy; addlebrained.
Hope you don´t mean "trivial"!

The idea of using alternative materials as speker enclosures was -again- of
G.Briggs.
In one of his books he recomended to use the imagination and recur to the standard square wood box only when necessary.
Since I read that, I wave been experimenting with all kind of objects, and when I see a cavity or hole I instantly wonder it it would make a good speaker.
But not to this extent....
The clay pots I use a mid enclosures have good reasons to sound right.
They are quite dead and non resonant -once its opening is glued to the open baffle-.
Their truncated conical shape form an irregular interior shape.
The B110 is so well known that I don't comment on it.
The Celestion HF1300 is an intriguing tweeter. It is so uncolored and neutral that just does'nt sound like a speaker.
The HF2000 has the same type of sound.
The final result is a system very uncolored and natural sounding, that you never get tired of listening to. Its character is quite close to the LS3/5a.
Its drawbacks are: it is not too analytical nor super-detailed, and I supose the HF1300 will limit its power.
But I don't care. To my ears they are wonderful!

However such a design did appear in an April edition of Hi-fi Answers.
Using a Twyford product one makes up a "seat" with a KEF B139 installed and the "exponential tapered pipe" is filled full of long fibred wool at the "standard stuffing" level.
A cistern box is made to house the input panel, crossover, mid and treble units .
Might sound interesting  .
Another idea was to excavate under the lounge floorboards of a '50's semi to form a trapiziod type void.
Install four B139's at one end and have a aperiodic vent at the other side of the room.
Sub-woofer or what  .
