Back in 1975 Vickers of York used to knock out a Fons CQ30/SME3009/Stanton681EEE, Sugden A48 & KEF Ref 104's for ~£515.
So there's some merit to this type of combination, providing the Sugden is fully serviced first.
Class A amplifiers tend to go off with a bigger bang when they dump their trannies.
