Reviving an old thread, I am also in need of a pair of SP1083 (4Ohm) or equivalent. Does anyone know where I can source such? |

I doubt whether Meridian in Huntingdon have any left, so you'll have to get your duds rebuilt (~£40-50) by David Smith, Wembly Loudspeakers or the like. |

Cheers. I have noted down contact details for Wembley Loudspeaker so may well do that.
It's very sad. I have a pair of M1s which have one faulty amplifier, and a pair of M3s with one faulty driver. I need to repair at least one set so am currently trying to replace components on the M1s. If that fails I will try to get the M3 driver repaired/ replaced.
One day I will buy new equipment, but second hand always looks like such a bargain. Maybe some SBLs. Nice. |

You do know that Meridian used Quad 405 amplifier modules in the M100, so getting it fixed shouldn't be a problem, or that expensive .
David Smith's 'phone number is 01708 447344 btw.

Actually, no I wasn't aware of that. I'd assumed they were a Boothroyd Stuart design. So thanks for posting that info - it could be helpful.
What I have done with the M1s is to disconnect all the amplifiers, and routed the bass, mid and treble out to 3 NAP180s, and then back into the speaker cabinets. It's a vast improvement, but I am experiencing earthing problems wih one channel which I need to work through. Eventually. |
