Hello all,
how about the differences?
KEF used them both in the same speakers (Chorale, Cresta, ???) without changing the crossover (as far as I know).
Why did KEF changed from the 6535 to the SP1032?
Greetings, Hans |

Hello Hans,
I don't know an answer to this question
I once have heard that the older versions should be better, but didn't have the time yet to figure it out...

The very earliest KEF T27 Tweeter had a free air resonance of 0nly 900Hz.
The specification for the later models was somewhere 1300Hz if i remember correctly. _________________ I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a

Hello all,
But knowing this, it is strange to me that there were no changes in the crossovers....
Apparently, both types can be used with the same type of crossover...

Each of the "old style" T27's has its resonnant frequency on a separate sticker e.g. 1150, 1180. The power handling is lower at 7 Volts, SP1032's are 10 Volt units. |

I am currently looking ata KEF advert for the early T27.
Categoricaly states 900Hz.
The specification sheets for these printed in blue ink also stated 900Hz.
Are we talking about the same tweeter? The magnet on this one is hidden by a plastic moulding.
There is a white sticker on the backplate and two solder tags for connections, not the two wires.
Impedance is quoted as 'IMP 4-8Ω’ |

Now I am getting dizzy!
Another leaflet again for the SP1032 quotes 50 watts programme.
F/S 900Hz!
Neither of these look like the big plastic T27 without a KEF SP number... |

Yes indeed Andy!
But the 6535 exists with a black dome and the very early with a tranparent dome.
Am I right?

Yes, but I don't have more information.
I have both types, (black domed) 6535 and SP1032. I should do some tests to check if there is any difference.
Regards from Belgium!

Thank you Wouter, that is a good example.
Later production had the 4 removed from the back where it stated 4-8 Ohm. |

Yes, they can be used with the same type of crossover. I used 6535 tweeters in my re-built Codas without any problem. They sound just fine.
Whether the SP1032 does make a difference I don't know, but they cost more as people are looking for them to use in LS3/5as. _________________ M G Miles |
