Just interested in comparisons between BC1/Compact 7 type things and similar Kefs (rather than LS3/5a).

thanks

I had 104s upgraded to ABs for several years and then the original Harbeth HL3s in the past. Then later 55Watt BC1s which were considerably superior to both of them - ironic since Dudley Harwood marketed the HLs as the new wonder material polypropylene so much better then bextrene! But that BC1 doped 8 inch was one of the best drivers ever made for mid range colouration. The current Harbeths under Alan Shaw are much better than those originals. Discounting bass and power handling/loudness limitations the BC1s still stand out even today.

I have BC1s -1977, blue magnet. I have had KEF 104abs. Once I heard the Spendors, I knew the 104abs had to go.

Also have LS3/5a. A lot of similarities between the BC1 and LS3/5a in the mids and upper frequencies.

Both very musical speakers.
