UK supplier of subwoofer amps and drivers?

Hi all,

Anyone have any UK suppliers they can recommend for large subwoofer drivers and subwoofer plate amps?

So far the only ones I have found are Wilmslow Audio and BK Electronics, but there must be more choice of amplifiers and big bass drivers for subwoofer use?

A reasonable number of "named" quality subs are (or used to be in the case of REL), "badge engineered" BK Electronics units.

Their bits when assembled by a competent cabinet maker like Graham Hartle (the JR149 man) give superb results, so if I were in the market I would look no further Very Happy .

However I use a pair of BK amplifiers with my SP1054 based horn units and a Behringer crossover (set at ~160Hz) when playing with smaller KEF or KEF driver based designs.

The BK bit I wanted was their mono sub-bass crossover, but it's no longer made as some of it's components were not RoHS compliant Rolling Eyes .

I want to build or get a sub for under £500 to use in a room around 60ft by 80ft.

The main and surround speakers are 103db sensitivity with 15" mid bass drivers.

BK's Monilith looks interesting, but sensitivity and such may struggle to generate a signal output to keep up with the main speakers in such a room.

I have been looking at a couple of US imports too, but would rather source here and build my own cabinet.

A couple of other units have gained my interest, not sure what would be best, the biggest issue is the room size and creating a passive sub with a high sensitivity to keep up with the VC's 103db sensitivity while giving a decent output around 20hz. Not sure how to work out what enclosure would be best.

Adire Tempest 15" (5 litre displacement) (this may also be able to be used in the Fitzmaurice THT later?)
