[Hawaiian Gaijin]

While moving a carpet, my speaker line under the carpet dragged a KEF speaker down from a high perch...

The speaker and woofer separated - The voice coil, the woofer and the magnet are in three separate pieces.....here are some photos:

I bought the speakers in London and picked up an NAD Amp and NAD CD player back in 2000. All my life I had wanted an NAD system and this one is a beauty for the price.

Until now, the sound thru these KEFs was lovely.....so upset at myself for allowing this to happen.

Is there anything I can do to save this speaker??

If no advice then compassion please.

If you have a weak heart ask a friend to do it .

Don't try an epoxy glue job yourself, you won't be able to centre things without a jig.

Must have been from some height to rip the chassis holes up so badly.

I don't think the woofer chassis should be reused. Sorry. My condolances.

Have you contacted KEF audio Service dept. for replacement units?

The height it came down from was about five feet but even then I am surprised at the damage done.

Living in Hawaii now and not much in terms of speaker repair.....so I think I will try to buy a new piece from KEF and put it into the housing, or pick up something similar and put it in.

Would I be correct in assuming that if I try to epoxy it, the sound will have bad vibration?

A similar fate I experienced but with a much older KEF unit, I cannot even remember what driver it was, but the magnet just sheared off the chassis, nothing but epoxy or other holding it in place.

Try contacting KEF either direct or through a good reputable dealer, it is amazing as to what can be found if you have the right contacts...
