I have a pair of KEF Cantatas that need new tweeters , What type of tweeter would you suggest to replace them with , as finding a T52 SP1049 is proving to be near impossible .

Get a pair of KEF T33's SP 1074 and modify the existing upper crossover board components to the Constructor Series CS7 design.

got this from Wilslow Audio . "Unfortunately KEF no longer make the T33. We use a Peerless 811528 as a replacement " Would I still have to change the cross over ? Claus Svendsen sugested Scan Speak D2905/9300. Both look like major surgery .

Well its either the Peerless or Scanspeak with an L-pad or this from another post I made to "set the cat amongst the pigeons" as it were.

"For smashed T52 domes pinch one out of a late *black domed" T15 and have its coil rewound to the T52 specification which requires a coil which is deeper and has more turns" - well how do you think pro repairs are done on T52's?

There's currently a pair of boxed replacement tweeters for KEF 107/102 which used the T33 units on ebay

102/107's used the ferrofluid 4 Ohm T33 MkII which would be of no use at all in this application.

From my experience a 4 ohm T33 should work fine with suitable modification to high pass crossover values. To reconfigure 18db Cantata hi-pass section only for 4 ohm working, double the value of series capacitors eg 3.3uf changed to 6.8uf,and halve the value of the parallel inductor 0.35mh to 0.17mh.Series attenuator R2 may need to be increased to compensate for the higher sensitivity units.

I got a pair of T-33A's from Ebay , and I will modify the crossover to cs7 specs , the guestion is do I have to modify the midrage part also ? The caps are different on the midrange between the two crossovers .

Eugene already know's this as I've done in one of my Achilles tendons Crying or Very sad .
I've rigged up a B110B and T33 on a KEF Cantata mid-treble section and it sounds quite passable as it is.
Now the CS7 C7 (20uF) puts a notch in at 950Hz to kill the drivers' resonant frequency - it will be at -20dB without increasing the value of C7.
So I've suggested that Eugene does it the old fashioned way and let his ears decide, play with C7, then the aB section, then alter L3, etc.
