Hi,
I am trying to identify a Bass Driver which I have acquired, It was fitted into the Bottom of a homemade coffee table.
I was kind of guessing it was a Kef but I'm not sure anymore since I have removed it.
It has no Obvious Markings other than a Handwritten Label that says "B20"
and a little stamp on the edge of the Polystyrene Part that reads "A0667"
It measures 18" x 14"
If you can shed any light I would be very grateful.

I am just reading a May 1967 edition of Wireless World magazine.
There is an interesting article on a “New” KEF Mid-range Unit.
I have not the time to quote the whole lot, but here are a few specifications.

The black plastic dome is 2½” is made out of KEFs ‘Acoustelene’!
The KEF designation for the transducer is M70.
The rear of the unit exits into what looks like a vacuum cleaner hose 33” long filled Dr Baileys Long Fibre Wool.
Guess it makes it a mid range T.L then?
Magnet weighs a hefty 6lbs and it has a very long magnetic gap.

The bass unit is the B1418!?!

I’ll lay the forum open to Colin and Terry as these are new to me.
Only having encountered the bass unit in correspondence and a book sometime ago, and possibly the picture as above?
If you would like a copy of the magazines article please Email me.

Andrew.

We're talking about the KEF Concord II again Laughing . With it's revolutionary double suspension M70 mid-range unit.

Killed off in pre-production due to "quality issues".

I imagine only a few pairs escaped from the factory, so another one to look out for.

Radford, AR and a few others were playing around with this concept at the time.
