Can anyone identify the tweeter that someone has put in this 105.4? It has been glued in, so removal will be hard to do causing damage to the unit. So, before I go on with that, I wish I knew what it was. It sounds a bit hot for this pair of speakers, which I rescued from the trash down the street, but I'm thinking it may be okay if the horn is removed. Also, I'm curious if there is, by now, a good replacement tweeter for t33's. if so I would get a pair and try my best to wrestle this bugger out and replace the t33 in the other speaker.
Having trouble figuring out how to add a pic...Stay tuned...[/img]

Hi Jay,

Most simple sollution is buy a set Kef's with the same T33a sp1074 like: RR 103.2, 303, 304, caprice II, carllton 2 or 3. You can buy these mostly cheap.

To add pictures, make a free account at Photobucket, post your pictures there and put the url for a picture here, everybody can now see your photo's.

Greetings.

What's that, never seen this Shocked The faceplate is still from the t33A as i can see, but that stupid thing you have to remove and put standard t33A sp1074 tweeters in it.

I just bought a pair of t33's on ebay last night that came from a pair of 303's. Had to pay $100 US for them. Seems a bit much, but who knows when such parts will turn up again? Since it is a pair, I may replace the working t33 in the other speaker just to keep the pair together. Or is this overkill?

100 dollar is a bit high, but thats often the case.
The 303 was not a reference speaker so the 2 tweeters have small differences. Maybe it's better to change them both.

Differences? Really? I went off of KEF's cool website for info before buying and the tweeters I got are the exact # match: T33 SP1074....Golly, I hope I didn't waste my money!
Regardless, they will arrive friday.

No, you did not waste your money. The reference speakers where selected, also the loudspeaker units and the crossover components as well. This was not the case with the cheaper ranges.
Speakerguru can tell you more about this.

O, and the T33A SP1074 has no ferrofluid, the later ones did.

Oh. I remember this thing about matched tweeters with the Ref series back when I had a pair of 101's. Yes, odds are good that the pair I'm getting are at least close in terms of when they were manufactured...I'll put them both in.
