Newbie here - I am now the proud owner of a pair of KEF Chorales found for a bargain price at a local garage sale.....what a prize find.

While inspecting them at the sale I took off the covers and was confronted by a mass of crumbled foam. Oh no, I thought, speaker surrounds...but then found that these are rubber and in very good condition. I guess that there were strips of foam stuck to the front outer face of the speakers to prevent any chance of the covers rattling. They are gone now - crumbled into dust.

A few minor repairs were needed - soldered a woofer wire back on, glued up cover frames (fairly ordinary particleboard, isn't it) and oiled the lovely cabinet timber. Soon they'll be hooked up to one of the myriad systems around my house (I've got all sorts of vintage stuff - Marantz, Kenwood, Rotel, Pioneer, Harman Kardon, JVC......)

Cheers
