I have recently joined this Forum after seeking help and advice with a pair of Kef Codas. After scanning the 'Other Speakers' section I haven't seen much on Harbeth.
Harbeth is now a successful modern speaker manufacturer, with an enviable track record. I own a pair of their little PSESR speakers, but I am interested in their earlier models as I own pair of the original HL Monitors.
The HL was a competitor ( if that is the correct term ) to the established Spendor BC1. Both H. D. Harwood and Spencer Hughes worked for the BBC and set up their own speaker companies after leaving the BBC. The HL Monitors came out a few years after the BC1s, but soon became sought-after loudspeakers.
In addition to the ' BBC 2 cu. ft. box', as both loudspeakers were affectionally known, both companies produced smaller speakers. The SA1 from Spendor and the ML Monitor from Harbeth. _________________ M G Miles |
