The mad collector in me is struggling to resist, as I have the chance to purchase a pair of Kef Carltons second hand.

It would be interesting to read what experience members here have had with these speakers.

What attracts me to them are two things :-

Firstly they are a big sealed box design around 110 litres

Secondly they have the amazing B1814 bass unit.

I would be interested to read what members have to say about these interesting speakers, bearing in mind that they are now nearly 50 years old and that there is no direct comparison available to compare to them these days.

Thanks,

Simon Smile

Sorry no experience of them. Way before my time at KEF. I'd have thought the 1814 was a must have for a collector Shocked - a totally impossible unit to conceive, design and manufacture!!!

Absolutely a real piece of history, well before me as well Smile

Rex Baldock (I think) published an article in Hifi News magazine in the 1960s detailing a subwoofer system he built which was solid to 16Hz and could move objects in his listening room Shocked
