Hi all,
Just joined and enjoying the kef speak. I have a pair (owned since new) of late seventies transmission line kefs designed and built by Chris Ball ( Monitor Acoustics) who now creates Image loudspeakers here in New Zealand. I was wondering if it was possible to match a ribbon mid/high unit to that glorious bottom end. Currently they run a B139, B110 and a B&W tweeter (replacing the Celestion and Coles units). Sounds great but I love the transparency of the ribbons that I have heard and wondered if they could be mated. All of the ready made hybrids I have heard simply cannot match the fullness of the Kef sound. Any ideas? Thanks.

Look at my Mordaunt Short thread and the "personal treasures" page.

I presume you're not going to spend >£200 on ePay for some Decca units of suspect origin.

So.

Contact Howard Dawson and ask him about his design

Not a problem at all!
I have built some half wave lines using B139, B110B and Decca Kelly Ribbons.
Changed dfrom passive crossovers to 24db/octave active ones, superb!
Crossover frequency for horn was 3.5kHz.
Will send some pictures when I get the time, so watch this space!
