Hi there

I just finished a wonderful box based on the BBC monitoring LS3/5a. It resembles KEF Cresta and Cantor.

315x200x180mm 12mm plywood decorated with marble looking self adhesive plastics, filled with heavy acoustical damping material for cars.

The crossover made by Falcon for the B110 and T27 lacked severely in the high frequencies; in fact the construction was useless.

The modification was adding a Coles 4001 and a 3-way crossover filter by Skytronics labeled ref. no 900.596

Due to lack of space, I had to place the Coles on top of the box. The dome then sends out the signal in all directions. I considered placing it on the back and turning the box against the wall and the Coles out in the living room for best tweeter sound.

The sound is highly superb now. Especially so for classical music and small ensembles or solos. Bass is ferm and dry and starts at 85hz, Crossover was selected as 1600/7000. (The other option on the filter model is 800/5000)

Quad 44 and 405 is serving the speakers.

I recommend the construction.

p.s. If such a combination of units have been made, please give me a notem thanks.

Please move the posting if I chose the wrong forum.

Hello,

So, as I understand well, the T27 is 'sending its signals' to the wall?

Best regards,
Wouter

PS. I think Terry (and many others) will be highly interested in some Photo's for this site.

1) No, the dome sits high on top and extends it's waves circumpolar, so only a small amount hits the wall. If horizontal I turn the domes inwards, but either way sounds great and I am not an uncritical listener. They perform much much above expectations for their size and much, much better than the 2-way CS1's.

2) I'd love to photograph them but have no digital camera.
