Thanks, mr quackers, I'll get my broken driver off to them and see what transpires.
I'm currently using the remaining good speaker with a Rogers LS7 (with a surprisingly large gain difference) so I can listen to tunes; but the sound I'm getting now isn't anything like the sweet Rogers Export Monitors I was very happy to be used to.
Your help is muchly appreciated.

Yes, regarding the KK10 and KK8 as used in the Monitor Audio mk2 MA1, 3, 4, 5 and Rogers Pro9tl.

No, you'll have to look at the more expensive SEAS, Vifa, Audax, etc units if you can find them. |
Mention of those Isophon tweeters reminds me of the MA5s I bought, but wished I hadn't... _________________ M G Miles |

This company has told me that there was only ONE incidence of them not being able to fix a bass unit in all the time they have been in existence.
They are currently working on 4 of my Goodmans 8" drive units from the Achromat Kappa/Sigma range - the ones with the Hitachi patent V-pleat surrounds.
When I was there, I saw brand new - just manufactured B110 drive units.
Amazing. |
I understand the only company building new B110 drive units is Falcon acoustics, who produce the FB110. _________________ M G Miles |

Also a Dalesford construction booklet, now that IS interesting...
Speakers like the Dalesford DS4 were abysmal.
A long time ago I bough a batch, again contrary to what some folk may claim about them on Ebay they are VERY inferior to the KEF look alike equivalents!!!
A local firm WAR (Western Audio Research) used in the main Dalesford units back in and around 1976.
Some were interesting, ones copying? Designs using D200 (B200) were not too bad, but models like the HD 7575 unmodified were somewhat lacking. Build quality was nowhere near as good as even the cheapest KEFs.
12" Bextrene for bass, a B110 copy for mid and an Isophon tweeter.
I still have a pair looking for a home and some empty cabinets.
There is no substitute for real KEF drivers!!! |
I have a pair of Goodmans Achromat 100 speakers which appear to use Dalesford drivers.
The chassis shape is very similar to the Kef B200, but is a smaller diameter.
Larger than Kef B110, with a cone dia. of about 6".
( The cones appear to be a plastic type with doping on the front only )
I cannot measure the cone dia. exactly as they are away having new roll surrounds fitted.
Thanks _________________ M G Miles |
