Hi
My B&O 5702 speakers each have a KEF SP1037 Aux Bass Resonator fitted. Problem is the rubber/foam suspensions have rotted away. Due to their unusual shape have so far been unable to locate replacement rubber/foams.

Does anyone know of a source? I'm thinking worst case that I purchase a circular repair kit, cut it in two and then fill in the two gaps (per speaker) with a "suitable" material. I'm fairly technically handy (retired MN Technical Officer and former military avionics tech, so don't mind getting my hands dirty!

Has anyone been down this road before? Any success? Any sources of suitable sized circular kits? I've Googled a fair bit and kept looking for over a year.

I'm in north Wales, UK but don't mind ordering parts from anywhere.

Fortunately you do have several options Very Happy .

1. Contact David Smith on 01708 447344 for advice and cost of a rebuild.
2. Find a pair of 1971 Cadenzas, which use the same ABR and gut Crying or Very sad .
3. Find an alive or dead B139A 6171 drive unit and remove the magnet.
4. Find narrow framed SP1042 ABR's.
Grind most of the existing 1037's casting off, so that it will fit behind the B&O's grills when reversed.
Mount a SP1042 ABR (same Thiel Small parameters) on the flat side and fit.
You could make a copy of the "racetrack" out of marine ply and bolt the SP1042 onto that.

Ungluing the radiator/surround from a 1042 and transferring it to your 1037 is not really an option, as the solvents required would happily dissolve polystyrene.

Any other offers?

Would it not be necessary to load the cone to a suitable fs by adding extra mass to it?

I have a couple of SP1042 ABRs in a killer subwoofer I built a while back.

I plan to 'upgrade' after Christmas, I could let them go for a sensible price if you are interested.
Last time I looked they were in good physical order and NO rot!
Any chance of a picture or two of the 5702s with the grilles off if you replace the ABRs?
