I have AR EB101 with 'T' bar suspension like TD150 etc. This is a lovely turntable but the springs are very light and sloppy. This makes it bottom out when I use a cork mat and a decent Decca operatic type record.
Does anyone know if I could upgrade the AR with a set of more substantial Thorens springs.
Thanks. _________________ Stu. |

If you have a look around www.vinylnirvana.com you'll find a heavily modified AR turntable with a heavy wooden motorboard / armboard that uses Linn Sondek springs.
So a set of Thorens spring should work fine on a stock example.
Remember if you're going to transfer the springs from your TD-160 then do it methodically, as the spring at the base of the 'T' is tad stiffer than the other two. |
