Flipping through an old loudspeaker book the other day I came across some information on an old KEF midrange driver which made its debut in 1967. It looks like an interesting peice of kit, using a 2.5" domed diaphragm, open backed magnet structure attached to a ducted sub-chamber for absorbing back waves. A dual suspension was also used for linearity. Apparently few of these pups were made... anyone out there in KEF-land know the name of this driver and which models it was used in?

The double suspension dome was used in the Concord II, which was abandoned in pre-production due to "quality issues" Rolling Eyes .

The modern equivalent is the ultra expensive ATC dome midrange Shocked .

Although referred to with cut-away plans in several mid 70's copies of Wireless World, I cannot remember the model number.

A few Concord II's do exist, but exactly where, who know's Cool .

There isn't much old timey KEF product around these parts so I doubt I'll end up coming across a pair through the course of business. However, stranger things have happened. I'll post up some snaps if I do...

Never fear..... if you keep looking, especially at garage sales or the local "Buy & Sell" paper, you will probably come up with something interesting!
